Prebatched Takeaway cocktails !!! How and Why ?

Hi I’m Livi, I own Boston Shaker Bar at The Wharf Mooloolaba.

We are now offering pre-batched cocktails to all our locals, but how do they work and what do they look like.

Simple, we have two types READY TO POUR & READY TO SHAKE.

READY TO POUR - are just how they sound. These cocktails are premixed and simply need to be chilled in the freezer until icey cold and they are ready to pour straight into a glass.

READY TO SHAKE - these cocktails require a little more effort. They are also premixed, but need to be shaken with ice prior to serving. These are designed for lovers of foamy textures and all things shaken.

I hear you saying “ why Shake if you can just pour” ?

Aside from the fun and interactive component of shaking, there are a few technical reasons we shake cocktails. First and most obvious reason is to combine and chill all the ingredients. We use lots of liquors straight off the shelf during service and ice is the quickest way to chill them down. When we shake the ice , little shards break off and quickly melt adding dilution to the cocktails. This dilution is an important part of making the cocktail balanced, especially prohibition style cocktails that are quite short and liquor heavy. The final reason is to aerate the mixture. This is imperative for those cocktails that are designed to have a foamy luxurious texture such as the Espresso Martini, Pink Lady & Prohibition Sour.

Lastly - Why would you want a prebatched cocktail when you can make your own.? Cocktails are just as easy as following a recipe, but unless you have a back bar that looks like ours it can be an expensive set up. Cocktails call for lots of unique ingredients and lucky for us we have the goods. Our prebatched cocktails can be ordered online for collection from The Wharf Mooloolaba. We make them up fresh and they are best consumed that way.! If you’re celebrating a birthday in isolation, or you’re just craving a few cocktails head to our shop and place your order.
